The Wood Stage is the third Stage within the Journeyman Level.
The focus of the Wood Stage is upon becoming familiar with, and exploring the Situation known as Mutual Attack.
Although one now possesses the tools, the ability, and the necessary mindset to completely employ the strategy of Attack at will, don’t make the common mistake of thinking that you’re the only one able to do this – your opponent may well possess similar attributes.
So what happens when such a meeting of force occurs? Well, as the old Chinese proverb says:
“When two tigers fight, one is certain to be injured, the other is certain to be killed.”
Practical experience of Mutual Attack will teach you in no uncertain terms that ALL strategies are equally valid, and in some instances attacking is the worst thing you can do. Thus a student who has completed the Wood Stage should possess the ability and experience to diffuse, nullify, or contain those at the Earth Stage, just as Wood binds and penetrates Earth within the Control Cycle of the Five Martial Elements.
The material within the Wood Stage is all contained within a single Grade:

There is no average duration, or usual time-limit for the completion of the Wood Stage. Each individual works through the material at their own pace, progressing as their personal abilities mature, and their personal understanding expands.
